What I Learned

Wow! Has it really been a month since I last posted? Time flies when you keep busy. Most of the past month I spent organizing a fundraising garage sale for Love INC. I learned a lot about what I can and can’t accomplish on my own. Since this was my first time heading up this fundraiser, I did much of the legwork myself, hoping to get others involved in the actual event. Next year, I hope to get a few others involved in the organizing. I work full-time, so doing it all myself took up almost all the spare time I had and left me very tired by the end of it all. I learned to start earlier. Some promoting I had hoped to have for the event needed to be set up much earlier than I realized, so that opportunity was missed. I was glad to have last year’s organizer helping me out along the way, or I would have really been lost. I hope to find time soon to write out a basic “procedure” on what needs to be done, so that next year I won’t be trying to recall it all from memory, and I can more easily delegate tasks to others.

The fundraiser was a huge success, raising three times more than the inaugural event, and I thank God and all the volunteers who made it possble.
